THE Green Smoothie

We finally found it, after trying to hide veggies in pizza sauce, pasta sauce, muffins and everything else we could think of we finally found a way that our fussy little eater will eat his greens, he loves smoothies but wouldn’t just have any smoothie this one i had been having for a few days and of course then he wanted to try it, and it was just sips at first then he came back for more and now he has a glass of his own.

We shop at Costco and the coconut water always seems to be on offer and a big bag of limes from there is also great, Sainsbury’s Organic range is awesome we get our fruit from there and it lasts well, their avocados are the best! everywhere else they just don’t seem to ripen right, finally the chia seeds i add these in for me after I’ve poured the little one his glass, they give me my 3g worth of Omega 3 and we get them from costco although i think you can also find them in your local health food shop.

EDITED to add… We started making coconut water Kefir, with little t on daily antibiotics because of his kidney reflux and little s’ eczema it was something we felt was needed, it’s also helped little s tummy, we have noticed when she doesn’t have it she wakes in the night with wind and her eczema will flare up. It has benefited our whole family, so we replace the coconut water with the coconut water Kefir, and have started using 1/3 cup frozen blueberries instead of ice.

You will need….

THE Green Smoothie (for 1 serving)
A good blender

3/4 cup coconut water

Juice of 2 limes

1 banana

1 1/2 cups spinach or kale

Big handful of mint leaves

1/4 – 1/2 avocado

Optional 1TBS chia seeds

Put all ingredients in the blender and blend for about a minute until smooth, pour and enjoy 🙂

  1. This might just do the trick. I’d reached the point where I was hiding peas inside individual pasta pieces? At least I was until I realised I was in effect just handing them pre-loaded pea shooters!?

They’re both a sucker for a smoothie so I may give this a try.

    1. I love smoothies too, and it all started with the fruits, now it’s all about the veg 🙂 I thew in a celery stick the other day haha! There was a slight taste I think because celery is quite strong.

    1. I get mine from Costco but hubby said he has seen them in the regular supermarket but i think they would probably be cheaper online. They are great we make jam out of them too and no need for anything else but fruit 🙂
