Dairy Free Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

My favorite thing about winter and Christmas time is hot chocolate and my kids love it too! We have been trying to reduce dairy for the latter part of this year and we love coconut and almond milk but because i didnt want the almond taste to take over i mixed it half and half with oat milk. Gingerbread is another of my favorite things about this season (i have alot!) and our whole family loves this recipe. You can of course substitute regular milk if you prefer and of course if you are on a completely dairy free diet don’t use squirty cream, we have yet to find a suitable substitute.

2 cups coconut & almond milk

2 cups organic oat milk

1/3 cup cacao

1/4 cup  coconut sugar or more to suit taste

1/2tsp vanilla extract

1/2tsp ginger

1/2tsp cinnamon

1/2tsp all spice

Put all ingredients in a pan and whisk over heat until combined and at intervals whilst its heating up.

Don’t let it boil or it will be too hot.

Serve with your choise of trimmings 🙂

Enjoy! ❄️

Serves 2 adults & 2 children

  1. I LOVE this recipe! I’ve recently discovered that I cannot have dairy anymore, no more regular lattes 😦 and so I’m trying to adjust and find tasty similar options. I have a tough time in coffee shops though as I despise the taste of soy milk or almond milk and only Starbucks carries Lactose Free (which I always have!) I’m definitely going to be trying this drink recipe, my Hubby will love the white chocolate in it too!

  2. Ooo I’d love this so much. I am a HUGE fan of gingerbread and I love hot chocolate, so I’d enjoy this. And whipped cream is also awesome 😉
