New & Improved Green Smoothie

Last year i shared with you all The Green Smoothie that little t has everyday i never thought it would get any better, its one of his favorite things to do, however we have added a few things over the past year to make it even better!

Little t likes his routines which plays a big part in some autistic kids. His bedtime routine is important as is when he gets up and the things he does during the day and this smoothie is part of his daily routine as well as his daily nutrition, he can tell us when he wants one now vocally by sounding the letter S, before he would just get the bender out and we would know, he likes to help so we let him do what he can and what is safe. We are able to add mostly anything to this smoothie and he can see it going in now, as long as its mixed up he doesn’t have a problem.

The new additions are..

Blueberries and Raspberries

Blueberries may only be small but they are high in nutrition and are referred to as superfood. They are high in fibre, vitamin C & K,  manganese and other nutrients. They contain the highest amount of antioxidants than any other fruit, antioxidants are important for our bodies they protect us from damage caused by free radicals by neutralising these unstable molecules that can damage our DNA which is one of the main reasons we age or get diseases like cancer, they also protect the cholesterol in our blood from becoming damaged and turning into bad cholesterol which can cause heart disease. Studies have been done that also show that people who eat 50 grams of blueberries a day helped lower their high blood pressure, help with brain function and improved memory. Drinking the juice has the same effect as cranberry in preventing urinary tract infections which is important with little ts reflux condition. Im sure there are many more benifits to eating blueberries. I was surprised for a small berry to contain so much nutrients,  i guess there is a lesson right there.

Raspberries are also a superfood and like blueberries are high in antioxidants, another small but powerful fruit. They contain high amount of vitamin C & K and manganese and help protect our bodies from those free radicals. Also foods high in Vitamin C help to keep eyes healthy Raspberries also contain the antioxidant zeaxanthin, which filters out harmful blue light rays.

Chia Seeds

We would add chia seeds to our smoothies but thought it was too bitty for little t,  however we just whizz everything up and let it stand for about 5 minutes so the chia seeds can soak then whizz it up again and he seems to be happy with that. Chia seeds are another superfood, the reason Chia seeds are so beneficial is due to them being rich in fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins and minerals. Chia also contains essential fatty acids alpha-linolenic and linoleic acid, mucin, strontium, Vitamins A, B, E, and D, and minerals including sulphur, iron, iodine,  magnesium, manganese, niacin, thiamine, and they are a rich source of anti-oxidants. Chia seeds benefits include promoting healthy skin, reducing signs of aging, supporting the heart and digestive system, building stronger bones and muscles and more.

Moringa leaves contain 18 types of amino-acids, 46 antioxidants, 36 anti-inflammatory compounds and more than 90 nutrients, making it one of the best nutritional supplements ever. Moringa is an excellent source of minerals like iron and calcium, and of vitamins A, B, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, and E as well as macro-minerals and trace minerals.  Moringa can be a great help with general health and wellbeing. Some specific benefits include improvements in energy, stamina, and endurance,  help lower blood pressure when taken regularly, lowers cholesterol, help balance hormones, boost immune system, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-parasitical properties, aid skin problems,  help with sleep, Improve appearance of skin.
